Deli (my Fell pony) has been resting since July due to a fracture to his side bone. How a 5yrold could have such developed side bone baffled my vet. It also baffled my farrier as the pony has such lovely feet! He's been sound since the begining of Winter and because there are no lights in my school I decided to leave him over winter and then bring him back into work in the spring. I've been longreining him in the dark under headtorch and Saturday I sat on him for the first time! He felt great, albeit a bit like a ticking time bomb but he was so good, if a little tense bless him. He's been in the school in the dark loads of times but was only his second time in the school in day light!
Sunday I decided to bite the bullet and take him for a hack. He isn't the best in traffic - never dangerous but if someone comes past too close or fast or both he doesn't like it. But we met a motor bike, JCB, noicy trailer and lots of cyclists. Very pleased with him.
