Hello and welcome to my blog. I don't think I'm that unique, however this is to document my day to day life. I work full time (8:30 to 17:00) and own a 15hh cob called Sapphire and a 13hh fell pony called Deli.
Sapphire was a prime example as to why cobs aren't a ideal Horse for novices. Their slow and steady nature can make them appealing to the less experienced rider, but they can be strong willed and need firm handling. Unfortunately Sapphire had too firm handling when she was young. She had learnt to mistrust people and had also learnt her own strength. She was my first horse and ten years later we have learnt so much from each other. Before Proximal Suspensory Desmitis diagnosIs to both hing legs we enjoyed dressage and endurance together. She is now a glorified lawn mower who gets dragged out on a hack whenever the mood takes me.
Deli is a newer edition, I brought him two years ago for dressage and M&M showing. He's a bouncy happy charactor who is currently on rest from a fracture to his side bone. He managed to fracture his side bone by jumping 5ft post and rail which had a spread of stock fencing 3ft behind. He would have just cleared the post and rail had he not decided to jump the post so he managed to demolish the post and rail whilst sailing through the air making it to the other side. This was in the height of summer last year. How he got away with only a few superficial cuts I dont know, but 6 weeks later we found over developed sidebone with a fracture in his left fore. How a 5 year old can have that developed sidebone in a mystery but after field rest since the end of July he's now sound.
